Integrative Health Coaches view health holistically and serve as guides to help clients with lifestyle changes in many areas, such as relationships, physical activity, and career. Though nutrition is often considered, Health Coaches do not prescribe specific nutrition plans or protocols; they empower clients to create and continually adapt unique wellness lifestyles – including approaches to nutrition – that work for them. Integrative Health Coaches support clients in becoming experts on themselves by generating insight, tapping into internal wisdom, and increasing self-knowledge. They lead clients through the ongoing process of transformation by helping them implement sustainable shifts based on what works for them individually. As a result, clients experience long-term lifestyle changes. Though clients may reach their bio-individual goals, there’s no end point; rather, it’s a lifelong journey toward self-discovery and well-being. Although Health Coaches assist clients in making shifts that may improve many health conditions, they do not diagnose, treat, or claim to heal clients. They may collaborate with healthcare providers to implement treatment plans and can make recommendations for basic, health-supportive changes. Health Coaches advise clients to consult with their doctor or medical practitioner before changing a medication, starting a new fitness routine, or making major dietary changes.
Working with a health coach is a partnership. Our initial meeting will include reviewing your health history and identifying goals you wish to work on during our time together. Rather than telling you what you should do or not do, we will work together to explore areas that you would like to improve on and what steps you feel comfortable taking in order to see change. We will explore aspects of wellness including, but not limited to, emotional well-being, sleep, self-care, relationships, career, physical activity, and nutrition. We will typically meet weekly or biweekly depending on what works best for you and our mutual schedules and each meeting will focus on the goals you have set. Sustained change takes time so you can expect to work together for three to six months but each person's journey is unique, therefore there is no pressure around timeframe.
